Godrej Consumer Products has reported an 18% increase in its net profit for the quarter to December 2015 over that a year ago, propelled by lower input costs, while its domestic sales grew 8% during this period.

The company's net profit grew to Rs 203 crore and its sales in the country amounted to Rs 1,261 crore.

"Our India business sustained its volume growth leadership with a growth of 9%. While the pace of economic recovery is slower than anticipated, we are hopeful of continuing our relative outperformance in the quarters ahead," said Godrej Group chairman Adi Godrej.

The company said it is planning to launch several products to stimulate demand and extend its leadership in core categories.

The household insecticides category saw double-digit volume growth with a sales growth of 15%, while sales of hair colours fell 1% during the quarter. However, sales of soaps grew 2% in value after price cuts.
