GCPL Q4 net up 12.39_% at INR 265.57 crore

FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) on Tuesday reported a 12.39 percent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 265.57 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31.

The company had reported a net profit of Rs 236.28 crore in the corresponding period last year, GCPL said in a BSE filing.

During the period under review, the company's net sales stood at Rs 2,082.61 crore, up 8.24 percent, against Rs 1,924.01 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Godrej Group Chairman Adi Godrej said: "Our performance in the second half of fiscal year 2015 has been much better than that in the first half... Our strong performance is on the back of a gradual recovery we are seeing in FMCG growth in India, aided by our continued focus on innovations and brand building, and supported by competitive marketing investments and enhancements in our go-to-market infrastructure."

He further said: "We will accelerate the pace of new product launches as the macro-economic environment improves and capitalise on the uptick in demand."

For the full fiscal year ended March 31, GCPL's net profit stood at Rs 907.12 crore compared with net profit of Rs 759.73 crore in the previous fiscal year.

GCPL's net sales in the year were Rs 8,242.2 crore as against Rs 7,582.57 crore a year ago.

Meanwhile, in a separate filing, the company also said its Board of Directors has declared a fourth interim dividend of Rs 2.5 per share for the financial year 2014-15.

Shares of Godrej Consumer were trading at Rs 1,099.25 apiece in the afternoon trade, down 2.28 percent on the BSE.
