Adi Godrej receives Compliance Crusader Award from Legasis

On the occasion of Compliance Day, Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Group, was bestowed with the Compliance Crusader Award by Legasis, a Legal Systems and Integrated Solutions enterprise. The award recognizes his contribution to Indian industries during his tenure as President, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). The award was handed over to Godrej by Bharatratna Sachin Tendulkar & Hon'ble Shri Prakash Jawadekar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting in a star studded ceremony in Mumbai, where over about 100 corporate executives were present.

Adi Godrej, Chairman, Godrej Group said, "It is an honour for me to receive this award in front of such a distinguished gathering of corporate leaders in India. I have always believed that businesses flourish when they function within the realms of compliances and laws of the land. I extend my heartiest congratulations to Legasis for recognizing the critical role Corporate Governance plays in today’s business environment and would like to urge the Indian business community to work towards making India a benchmark of ethical business practice across the globe."

In 2012, the Government of India appointed the Corporate Governance Committee chaired by Adi Godrej to formulate a National Policy on Corporate Governance. The committee was responsible for formulating a policy, which was adopted by both, the Government of India and SEBI in various forms.

Godrej also chaired the CII Task Force on Integrity and Transparency in Governance. This Task Force was set up at a time when anti-corruption agitation in India was at its peak. The CII Task Force formulated the Anti-Corruption Code of Conduct which was expected to be followed by all CII members.
